process graphicPhase 4: Develop

We often get asked: "Do you build websites?"

Well, yes, and no.

Yes: We do help organizations communicate information electronically—either by relying on our in-house consultant base, outsourcing, or teaming with a firm that specializes in coding, assembling, and creating the electronic backbone and graphic design of a site.

No: We are not a "Web shop." We do not have a slew of account executives and HTML coders on staff. (We did, however, develop this website.) But if you agree that information architecture is essential in building electronic documents, we will work with your in-house staff or contractors to incorporate our principles for user-focused development.

Principles for user-focused development

Our development philosophy rests on four fundamental principals. We build communication products that:

  • Facilitate visual understanding.
  • Provide intuitive navigation for users.
  • Support users with disabilities.
  • Enable organizations to maintain and augment the content.

When we design a site structure, we create a flexible structure that allows organizations to build in new chunks. When we design interfaces, we use tools that make changing labels and adding categories simple. When we build complete sites for clients, we use tools that are both easy to use and facilitate content maintenance. And all of our Web-based products comply with the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Guidelines.
